As the end of 2016 is fast approaching, the time for big giving is here. December continues to be the month of the year where giving is highest. Is your organization prepared to attract new donors during this time?
Be completely honest with your potential donors on what their donations will be going toward as this year ends. Better yet, allow donors to designate where they would like their donation to go when they give online. Use past data from budget reports to share how donations overall are split up each year. Take this information, combined with an easily accessible online giving form, and encourage new donors to make an informed and inspired decision to give.
Appeal to potential donors personally. Did another recurring donor let you know that their brother has wanted to give for two years, but he does not know how or when is best to give? Reach out to this donor’s brother, and make him a donor as well. Use existing relationships within your donor base as a major starting point to access new donors.
Encourage existing donors to market on your behalf. Provide them the tools to create their own year end fundraisers, and garner donations on your behalf. Donors can encourage friends and family to give specifically to your nonprofit’s year end appeals, directing new traffic to your website and giving page. Events in December can be made open to new and existing donors, giving an opportunity to learn more first hand about your organization’s plans for today and the days to come.
