Ever heard of the six degrees of someone? Sure you have! Well, I bet you haven’t reached out to the six degrees of every constituent at your nonprofit. (If you have, well done!) Tap into the potential to grow your nonprofit network of support by connecting with the networks of donors and volunteers.

First, identify donors and volunteers that can best influence others. In Salesforce, you can integrate donor records with Klout so that you can easily measure the social impact of an individual. Connect with these influencers in a more specific way, with the intent to work with them to develop new relationships with potential donors.

Second, once you have identified these donors and volunteers as solid contacts for growth, cultivate the relationships with these community influencers. Have them tap into their professional and social networks, share your message on behalf of your nonprofit. Once these connections are formed, add these new contacts into your database to begin their cultivation process as well.

Third, this newly created cycle for growth and success will lend itself to help you with all future campaigns and events. Gone are the days of needs to purchase a donor prospect list, you are already connected to your prospects through your existing donors! These influencer donors will open new doors to opportunities previously unknown.
