Maintaining a Healthy Work-Life Balance
An Ernst and Young study from January 2015 states that one-third of full time employees across the world find that their work-life balance has become harder to manage over the last five years. Why? The number one reason was that their responsibilities at work had continued to increase.
As the donor management system expert, you spend the better part of your day manually updating records and compiling reports. Your role is critical in ensuring your organization has accurate data. If you are like many of your fellow system experts, you are managing many systems, including donor management, volunteer management, and countless spreadsheets. Do you have intentions to go home at the end of the day and leave your computer behind? Unfortunately, most of us find ourselves coming home and logging into our systems to complete tasks we didn’t have time to complete during normal business hours.
It’s time for you to get the break you deserve! So, the million-dollar question is: How do you get a break and still get the important tasks done? Here are three steps that should be taken in order for you to achieve a healthy balance.
Automate communication. Utilize your system to communicate with your donors. Let the system work for you. You can customize your communication and make it as personal as ever, but the system can create it and send it out, without you having to do it. Automatically send out thank you emails for donations to keep that personal touch alive.
Synchronize Data. Gifts you receive online should automatically transfer into your donor management system. Put automation to work and let your system email acknowledgement receipts for you.
Schedule Reporting. Create your reports one time and let the system take it from there. Choose the frequency and your reports can be emailed without you having to physically create, run and email the report.
