This week, we are evaluating some of the top issues that face nonprofits regularly. Yesterday, we looked into several ways that nonprofits can find the funds to further the missions of respective organizations. We have found that in addition to finding and allocating funds, spreading the message of the nonprofit is a big source of uncertainty and anxiety also. Typically, these feelings come from not knowing the appropriate way to spread the message, and how to share the story with different audiences. We will focus on two simple, but often overlooked, options for spreading your message.
DonorLynk customizes Salesforce for nonprofits, and big part of Salesforce is WORKFLOWS. Workflows take the processes that you follow as a part of your day to day operations and incorporate them into your online database. Emails can be triggered for volunteer opportunity reminders, event reminders, and donor thank yous. Within these emails, you have a purpose for the communication, but you also can alert constituents of your overall mission, and how their contribution affects it positively. Utilize an email marketing tool, like Emma, to work mass email newsletters and updates into your workflows as well. Workflows enable your nonprofit to eliminate the uncertainty of how your message will get spread.
Include a call to action in your emails, calls, and mail outs. This does not have to be a blatant DONATE or VOLUNTEER button. However, calls to action keep the goals that your nonprofit are trying to accomplish in the forefront of your constituents’ minds. When communicating with supporters, educate them on opportunities to get involved past how they usually contribute. Also, educate them on your true mission. The statements and stories you have so carefully crafted share your objectives so beautifully. A regular reminder of the great and impactful work you do is a needed inbox encouragement to the donor, for sure.
